Our Aikido class teaches your child social and motor skills. Dealing with difficult situations (such as bullying and arguments). With time, you will see self-confidence grow and your child increasingly dare to stand up for himself. It is also seen as a sequel to the well-known Rots and Water training.
At Aikido school Ando, all taught for more than 20 years by Edo and Anne Slui, to children both in the Netherlands and abroad. Their grandmaster Yoshimitsu Yamada sensei is one of the last masters who still trained directly with founder Morihei Ueshiba.
It is their passion Sharing Aikido with as many people as possible and to be an inspiration to the community. This is reflected in all the training they do themselves, as well as teach. The classes are active and full of Aikido techniques, game-movement forms with resilient solution approaches.
Thus, at Ando, children learn to defend themselves without learning to fight.
Finally, Aikido a Martial Art that has no competition like Karate or Judo does.
Whether they have ADHD / Autism, with us it's all about fun on the mat together. Because in addition to regular classes, Ando often organises fun activities in which all Aiki kids can participate. Every year there are new things on the agenda.
Sure. We are convinced that if a child is on the mat and trains often enough, he or she will become increasingly assertive and confident with time. Often it is also to give the child time to develop in this area. With all the techniques and exercises in Aikido, that's fine.
Very understandable. Everything new is exciting. That is why you can also just come and watch a lesson without having to participate. (You can indicate this on the trial lesson form. Then plan a trial lesson for the week you can come and train and mention in the comments section that you will come and watch the week before).
If you still have a Judo suit lying around somewhere, it is handy, but not necessary. 'Loose-fitting' clothing is fine, think of a sweatpants with a t-shirt. We will also explain this to you in the email you receive when you come for the trial lesson.
Definitely! Everyone is welcome to train with us. Did you know that sensei Edo and Anne also started Aikido that way? They both stepped onto the mat at the same time.
We will share the cost with you after the first lesson. After all, it is important to us that you like Aikido, not because it is cheaper than, say, tennis. Should it be too expensive, we will find something on that. The bottom line is, do you like Aikido? That's why our trial lesson is free. The choice after that is always up to you.
I started practising aikido last year and I already love it. I wanted to join aikido because I thought it would be fun and because my mum and dad do aikido too. There are nice kids in the group with whom I can laugh a lot (sometimes a bit too much, according to my mum...). And what is also very nice is that mum gets to train with me. I can perform techniques with her! Ando also organises aikido seminars, which I also enjoy. For the time being, I'll keep training at Ando and who knows, I might even get my black belt!
