School-Aikido

Aikido classes in education

School Aikido is provided by Ando. We offer Aikido classes at different levels, both for primary and secondary schools. Our trainers tailor the lesson package in advance to the needs the school wants to fill with school Aikido.

For whom is school Aikido

Think of children on the primary school aged 6-12. But also for young people of 12-16 years at secondary school there are special training courses developed to get acquainted with Aikido. Recurring themes are ‘Aikido as a martial art introductory lesson’, but also resilience through Aikido. Ando includes and therefore does not differentiate between different groups or schools. In the past, we have also taught visually impaired students, which obviously requires a unique and distinct approach.

Important to know:
Aikido is not a martial art and has no competition. This is one of the key features that make Aikido require more intrinsic commitment from you. You don't have to be athletic or strong; in fact, this martial art was developed by its founder, who was only 1.50m himself. Aikido is a sport you can practice for life! For instance, our grandmaster Yoshimitsu Yamada, who was 84 years old, was still on the mat.

Sensei Anne taught School-Aikido at Fransiscusschool in Zaltbommel.

Sensei Edo provides Urban-Aikido training, in which children practise Aikido outdoors in a playful way.

What to expect at school Aikido

Every school and situation is unique, therefore we aim to be in agreement with the school to achieve the best possible results. For example, we can hook in with (several) themed lessons or a one-off visit for several groups. You can rest assured that we will keep the Gymnasium converted into a real Aikido dojo. Our Aikido visits to schools mainly take place in the vicinity of our Ando dojos.

With this training, a contribution is agreed in advance, which benefits the Foundation.
